The 87-year-old composer conducted an orchestra that performed a range of his pieces, including music for the Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and for Roland Joffe’s movie “The Mission”.

The concert on Tuesday evening was part of a European tour marking 60 years of Morricone’s musical career. The tour started in Prague on 15 January.

The Wrocław performance was among events hosted by the city to mark its role as European Capital of Culture in 2016.

Morricone has composed music for about 500 films. In 2007 he received an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement. (pk)
