Doba told Poland’s IAR news agency that he plans to set off from the Hudson river in New Jersey in the US on 14 May, on a route of over 3,000 nautical miles. He will head southeast in a bid to avoid transatlantic liners and fierce storms.
He aims to reach Europe around 9 September to meet his family on the day of his 70th birthday.
On a previous trip, Doba paddled across the Atlantic's widest point, from Lisbon to Florida. He was 68 at the time.
It took him 167 days to complete the longest open-water kayaking expedition across the Atlantic in history, a feat which earned him the 2015 People’s Choice Adventurer of the Year title. (pk)
