The festival’s headliners include PJ Harvey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beirut and Sigur Ros.

Alongside concerts, attractions include an art exhibition, open-air film screenings and meetings with authors.

The festival, the biggest in Poland, has for years drawn some of the best-known acts on the global music circuit, among them Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Björk and Faith No More.

First launched in 2002, the event has won numerous prizes, including Best Major Festival at the 2009 European Festival Awards. (aba/pk)
