A hefty 84% of Poles approve of Poland’s membership of the EU and almost as many say they would vote “remain” if a referendum were held, according to a poll by the IBRiS Institute for the Rzeczpospolita daily.

But almost three in four Poles are against joining the euro zone, the survey found.

However, asked what if adopting the euro was a precondition for membership of the EU, almost 50% of Poles would be in favour of adopting the common currency.

In an editorial, Rzeczpospolita wrote that in the post-Brexit world, there’s going to be a growing division within the European Union into a rich euroland group and poorer countries on the periphery of the bloc which, for various reasons, are not ready for further integration.

According to the daily, Poland should do its best to join the decision-making centre of the EU.
