Almost half (48 percent) of Polish internet users have shopped online at least once, according to the report by business consulting company Gemius. Polish internet users predominantly shop in domestic online stores (47 percent), while only 10 percent buy from stores abroad.

More than half of Polish e-shoppers are under 34 years of age (56 percent). However, the number of e-shoppers above 34 has increased compared to last year.

"I think that e-store managers should monitor the oldest group of buyers especially closely, because it is here that we will see large increases in future," said Gemius expert Marek Molicki.

For Polish e-shoppers, the main advantages of shopping online are convenience, saving time and money and a wider selection of products compared to traditional stores. An issue that is becoming a key factor for many shoppers is quick and value-for-money delivery.

The "E-commerce in Poland in 2016. Gemius for e-Commerce Poland" report was drawn up for the Chamber of Digital Economy based on a representative sample of 1,500 internet users of at least 15 years of age. Data was collected 7-14 April 2016. (mol/pk)
