Music fans had a rare treat in the southern city of Kraków on Saturday - they were able to listen to all of Beethoven’s nine symphonies performed by the Capella Cracoviensis orchestra in a day-long marathon.

In the first two symphonies, the orchestra was conducted by Paul Goodwin, in the third and fourth by Christophe Rousset.
Eivind Gullberg Jensen took over for the next two and was replaced by Evelino Pidò for the seventh and eighth symphony.
The last one was conducted by Capella Cracoviensis' Music Director Jan Tomasz Adamus.
Capella Cracoviensis is one of Europe’s leading period-instrument orchestras. It performs regularly under such high-calibre conductors as Andrew Parrott, Andreas Spering, Paul McCreesh, Roy Goodman and Fabio Bonizzoni.
Its recent projects have included a concert version of Mozart’s "The Marriage of Figaro", Handel’s three great oratorios and a series of concerts featuring Polish Baroque music. (mk/mol/pk)
