Organised by the Mieczysław Karłowicz Association in Zakopane, the festival has been held every year in that Tatra mountain resort in southern Poland since 2009.

Featured artists this year have included Ukrainian-born Polish soprano Olga Pasichnyk, Israeli clarinetist Shirley Brill and Israeli pianist Jonathan Aner.

The programme of the week-long event comprised workshops for young Polish musicians and meetings with members of the audience in a wooden villa, built in the highland style at the end of the 19th century.

The festival’s name refers both to the Tatra mountains and to the high quality of music performed.

In previous years the event has attracted international stars such as the Kronos Quartet, The King’s Singers, the Musagète Apollon Quartet and Sharon Kam (mk/pk)
