In addition to the first prize, he received a critics’ prize, an audience prize and a special award from the San Marino Symphony Orchestra, collecting a total of 20,000 euros.

In the finals he performed Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2.

Thirty pianists took part in the event. Ukrainian-born Dmytro Choni, who represented Austria, came second and Meng-Sheng Shen of Taiwan was third.

Twenty-four-year-old Krupiński is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw.

His recent successes include the top accolades at the International Piano Competition organized by the Chopin Society in Hanover (2015) and the ClaviCologne International Piano Competition in Aachen (2016).

Last year, he took part in the Chopin Competition in Warsaw but failed to reach the final stage.
