Polish students among EU's top EFL learners

A total of 97.7 of all primary school students in Poland learn a foreign language, placing the country among the top in the EU.

The average in the EU was 83.7 percent of primary-level students learning at least one foreign language.

Students in Cyprus, Luxembourg and Malta (all 100.0 percent), Croatia, Italy and Austria (all 99.9 percent), Spain (99.5 percent), as well as in France (99.0 percent) and Poland (97.7 percent) were the top in the EU, the Eurostat statistics office said in a recent report.

In Poland, 94.8 percent of primary school students study English, with 6.2 percent studying German, the second most popular foreign language taught in schools. (rg)
