It is based on poetry and prose by Nobel Prize-winning writer Harold Pinter, who made a name for himself primarily as a playwright, with works such as "The Birthday Party," "The Homecoming" and "Betrayal".

Sands premiered "A Celebration of Harold Pinter" in 2005, having been asked to substitute for the ailing Pinter to read out his poems at a London benefit recital.

He has since performed the show in many countries.

Sands is known to audiences from films such as "Leaving Las Vegas," "Gothic" and "A Room With a View."

He also starred in the 1988 film "Wherever you are…" by Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi.

During his current visit to Poland, Sands is also to give masterclasses for actors at the Andrzej Wajda Film School in Warsaw. (mk/pk)
