Entitled "Ilonka Tóth", the play is set during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, an uprising against the country's communist rulers.

The play focuses on Tóth, a 24-year-old medical student who ran a Budapest hospital when she was arrested and accused of murder.

Following the uprising the communist government held a public trial during which it portrayed the revolution as the murder of innocent communists by common criminals.

In her show trial, Tóth was coerced into confessing to murder.

The play will be performed in Hungarian with simultaneous translation provided to viewers through headphones.

The premiere at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw on Friday will be attended by the Polish culture minister and the Hungarian justice minister.
