The camp, which opens on 2 November, is the brainchild of the world famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

The young musicians come from ten countries: Italy, Britain, the United States, South Korea, Ireland, Spain, China, South Africa, Germany and Poland.

They have been selected from among several hundred applicants from across the world.

Poland is represented by 12-year-old Dennis Cornelius Orkiszewski.

The programme of the camp includes masterclasses with Lang Lang, two rehearsal sessions a day with professional piano teachers, concerts for local schools and specially curated sightseeing tours and activities.

Lang Lang, who himself made a public debut at the age of five, has been giving masterclasses for talented kids for years.

In previous years, Allianz Junior Music Camps have been held in Munich, Vienna and Barcelona.

Lang Lang has performed in Poland twice. In 2010, he gave two concerts inaugurating the Chopin Year, which marked the bicentenary of the composer’s birth.

Earlier this year he appeared with the Washington Symphony Orchestra at the National Music Forum in Wrocław. (mk/pk)
