The concert features Nowowiejski’s oratorio “Quo vadis”, which was inspired by Sienkiewicz’s novel of the same title.

The programme will be performed by the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Philharmonic, the Górecki Chamber Choir and prominent soloists including soprano Aleksandra Kurzak and baritone Artur Rucinski. Piotr Sułkowski, the Music Director of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Philharmonic, will conduct the concert.

Premiered in Germany in 1907, “Quo Vadis” had over 200 performances in Europe and the United States before the outbreak of World War Two. The Carnegie Hall performance was conducted by Nowowiejski himself.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the death of Feliks Nowowiejski and the centenary of the death of Henryk Sienkiewicz. (mk/vb)
