Gustafsson, a Swedish poet, philosopher and playwright, died in April before he could personally receive the 2016 Zbigniew Herbert International Literary Award.
Michał Sobol, who made his poetic debut this year with a book titled Pulsary, will on Monday receive Gustafsson’s award on his behalf.
Herbert, after whom the award is named, died in 1998. He was a soldier in the Polish Legions during World War I, served with the Polish underground Home Army (AK) during World War II and was a committed anti-communist writer. (vb/pk)
