'Pokot' will premiere during the festival on 12 February.

“Agnieszka Holland's new film shows how in a small community in the Polish countryside, where there are not many causes for laughter, one can, being even quite old, with humour defend one's self from unheard of challenges,” the festival's director Dieter Kosslick said.

The nine-day festival, which kicks off on 9 February, will see some 400 films screened.

Among them will be a Polish-German production called 'Miss Holocaust', directed by Poland's Michalina Musielak, Kuba Czekaj's 'The Erlprince' and Łukasz Rondud's 'A Heart of Love' – Director's Cut. (vb/pk)
