The tour, which began in January 2016, marks the 60th anniversary of the start of Morricone’s career.

On the tour Morricone conducts an ensemble of over 200 musicians and vocalists, with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

The programme includes selections from the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino’s 2015 film “The Hateful Eight” for which he was honoured with an Academy Award, the Golden Globe Award, the BAFTA Award and the New York Films Critics Award.

Born in 1928 in Rome, Morricone started composing at the age of six.

He entered the Rome Conservatory at the age of 12. He has written music for about 500 films, including Pier Paolo Pasolini’s “Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom”, Roland Joffe’s “The Mission“ and two feature films about John Paul II by Italian director Giacomo Battiato.

Morricone also has many orchestral works to his credit, including “Tra cielo e terra”, dedicated to the Polish pope.

In 2007 he received an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement. (mk/rg)
