He will appear as narrator in “Egmont”, the composer’s incidental music to Goethe’s historical drama.

The programme of the concert, featuring the Orchester Wiener Akademie under Martin Haselboeck, also includes Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony and his concert aria for soprano and orchestra “Ah! Perfido”, with Marie Arnet.

The concert is one of the highlights of the Beethoven Easter Festival which runs from 2-14 April. Its programme also features concert performances of Stravinsky’s “The Rake’s Progress” and of George Bizet’s opera “Djamileh”.

The Beethoven Easter Festival, this year held for the 21st year, is organised by Elżbieta Penderecka, the wife of celebrated composer Krzysztof Penderecki. (mk/rg)
