This year’s edition of the “Tourist railway routes in Małopolska” project will run from April to December 2017. Last year a similar project was deemed a success, with all tickets for train journeys sold out.

The journeys will take place along scenic routes in Małopolska including a 70 km fragment of the former Galician Transversal Railway, which dates back to more than 130 years.

Historical locomotives and carriages from the years 1920-1963 will be used. In addition, numerous activities have been planned for the journeys, including visits to local tourist attractions, picnics, musical performances and historical re-enactments.

Local government will contribute PLN 400,000 (EUR 92,000) to the project, which is expected to cover two-thirds of the cost. Ticket sales will account for the remaining third. (sl/rg)
