The concert, in which Ravi Coltrane teams up with Los Angeles-based Polish bassist Darek Oleszkiewicz, is a tribute to the great jazz saxophonist and composer John Coltrane on the 50th anniversary of his death.
It will be preceded by a meeting with music critic and performer Filip Łobodziński, the translator of the book “The World According to John Coltrane”.
The line-up of musicians billed at the five-day festival includes drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts, sax player Tia Fuller and leading Polish jazz musicians who will perform on World Jazz Day, 30 April.
The Jazz on the Odra Festival is one of the oldest events of its kind in Poland. Launched in 1964, it is being held for the 53rd time.
