Pole elected to key UN Commission

Poland's Marcin Mazurowski has been elected as a member of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).

The election took place at the UN Headquarters in New York.

During the meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in New York, the Polish candidate was elected in a secret ballot as a member of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf.

Mazurowski is a deputy director of the Department of Geology and Geological Concessions of the Polish Environment Ministry and the author of numerous articles and scientific works in the field of geology and geophysics.

The CLCS consists of 21 members elected for five-year terms. (rg)
