Warsaw earns billions from tourists

A total of 9.6 million visitors flocked to Warsaw last year, including 2.7 million foreigners, according to a report.

Meanwhile, the figure including visitors who did not book overnight accommodation exceeded 20 million, according to a report entitled "Tourism in Warsaw.”

Among foreigners, the largest group were from Britain (12%), followed by Germany (11%) and France (7%), while the average amount spent in Warsaw by visitors was PLN 739 (USD 209, EUR 173).

Polish visitors spent PLN 402 on average and foreigners more than three times that amount.

The tourism sector contributed PLN 15.4 billion (EUR 3.6 bn, USD 4.3 bn) last year to the Polish capital’s GDP, according to the Warsaw Tourist Office.
