Domalewski triumphs at Poland’s Gdynia Film Festival

Piotr Domalewski’s 'Silent Night' scooped the main prize at the 42nd Gdynia Film Festival on Saturday night.

The drama depicts the story of a Polish expat who returns to his native village in Poland for Christmas. The night takes an unexpected turn after the main character reveals his true intentions for coming home to his family.

Dawid Ogrodnik won the Best Actor award for his performance in the film.

The festival's second prize, the Silver Lions, went to Joanna Kos Krauze and the late Krzysztof Kos Krauze for the film Birds Are Singing in Kigali. The Best Actress award went to both Jowita Budnik and Eliane Umuhire for their roles in the production.

The award for Best Director was granted to Agnieszka Holland and Kasia Adamik for Spoor, whereas the Best Debut award went to Jagoda Szelc, the filmmaker behind Tower. A Bright Day. (aba/pk/di)
