The 12th International Festival of Puppet Theater and Film Animations abounds in performances from Poland and abroad.
The lineup opens on Saturday with the staging of Hans Christian Andersen’s Tinder Box, held at Warsaw’s Lalka Theater. Directed by Jarosław Kilian, the performance is scored by Polish artist Grzegorz Turnau.
The highlights include the staging of India’s epic Mahabharata by the Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust and Rouge28 Theatre’s Kwaidan, a project inspired by Japanese ghost and horror stories.
The theatre performances were preceded by screenings of animations from across the world, including Japan, Israel and Argentina.
All the events are free of charge. The festival winds up on 15 October. (aba/pk)
