The programme of the event includes three concerts curated by violinist Jennifer Pike, where she performs alongside several young British musicians.

Polish Day features a wide selection of Polish chamber music from Italian-influenced works from the early 17th century, through compositions by Frederic Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Mieczysław Karłowicz and Witold Lutosławski to pieces by living composers, both of the older generation, including Krzysztof Penderecki, and the young generation, represented by 33-year-old Paulina Załubska.

Jennifer Pike, born to an English father and Polish mother, is one of the UK’s top young violinists.

In 2002, aged 12, she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. Between the years 2008 and 2010 she was a member of the BBC Radio 3 News Generation Artists scheme. (mk/aba)
