Fear of terrorism has decreased in Poland over the past two years, a new survey has found.

Sixty-seven percent of Poles do not fear a terrorist threat in the country, compared to 29 percent in 2015, pollster IBRiS found.

However, one in three still harbour such fears, down from 46 percent two years ago.

While a terrorism scenario cannot be completely discarded in any European country, “the results indicate that society has come to perceive the terrorist threat in an appropriate way: the possibility can’t be ruled out entirely but it’s rather small in Poland,” said Wojciech Lorenz, an expert on security from the Polish Institute of International Affairs.

The IBRiS poll, commissioned by the Rzeczpospolita daily, was carried out between 3 and 4 November on a sample of 1,100 respondents. (aba/pk)
