President to attend patriotic songs concert

Poland's President and his wife are on Sunday to take part in a concert of patriotic songs in Katowice, southern Poland, to celebrate Polish Independence Day 99 years after Poland was reinstated as a sovereign state.

The concert, which starts at 8 pm, will be performed at the seat of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra and will be aired on Polish Radio Three.
According to conductor Miłosz Wośko who put the concert together, the songs selected for the concert focus on women during Polish uprisings.
“This perspective was interesting and inspiring to me,” Wośko said, adding that a lot of the songs would be performed predominantly by women.(vb)
