The DJ, identified only as Dorian T. under Polish privacy laws, was driving under the influence of alcohol, with 0.2 percent blood-alcohol content, the onet.pl online news service reported.

The accident happened on the S3 expressway leading from Goleniów to Szczecin in northwestern Poland, onet.pl said.

According to onet.pl, Dorian T. was behind the wheel of the VW Scirocco, which caused the accident by running into another car, a VW Bora in which two people were traveling.

"The driver who caused the accident has been detained," Anna Gembala, a spokeswoman for police in Poland’s West Pomerania region, said, as quoted by onet.pl.

Dorian T., a native of the town of Goleniów, is a well-known figure in the world of electronic music in both Poland and abroad, according to onet.pl.

A day earlier he reportedly returned from India, where he had given a series of performances.

In 2012, he signed a contract with American label Ultra Records and has collaborated with the likes of Linkin Park, according to onet.pl.

Active in the music industry since 2010, Dorian T. is the highest-ranked Pole in the history of the DJ MAG Top 100 ranking, onet.pl said.
