The Catholic feast day commemorating the arrival of the Three Wise Men in Bethlehem to pay tribute to newborn Jesus is one of the Church's oldest and most important holidays and is a public holiday in Poland.

Pope Francis, who met with a group of Catholics in the Vatican on Saturday, mentioned the people in Poland who would be taking part in the Feast of the Epiphany parades.

The parade in Warsaw marched from the city's Old Town district to the Piłsudski square where a nativity was set up.

Saturday also marked Christmas in Orthodox Churches, and Polish President Andrzej Duda wished Orthodox Christians happiness, hope and peace. (vb)
