Major upsurge in tourism among Poles: report

The Polish Tour Operators Association (PZOT) has said that in the second week of 2018, sales at travel agents increased 61 percent year on year.

In the case of flight bookings, the upswing stood at 69.9 percent. Coach trips rose by 42.6 percent year on year, and accommodation bookings by 13.8 percent.

The association sourced data from the MerlinX booking system, the Rzeczpospolita daily reported.

The three top travel destinations were Greece, Turkey and Egypt. Other countries popular among Polish tourists included Spain, Bulgaria, Italy and Albania.

PZOT’s report, which covers sales in the week between 8 and 14 January 2018, covers the tourism season which began on 1 November 2017 and lasts until 31 October 2018. (aba/pk)
