The study, whose results were released on Valentine’s Day, also found that 45 percent of respondents were convinced that true love only happens once.

In a similar survey carried out in 2001, 55 percent of Poles declared they believed in love at first sight. The figure rose to 63 percent of those surveyed in a 2009 study.

"It seems, therefore, that romantic sentiment in Poland is undergoing a real revolution -- over the last 17 years, the number of those who believe in love at first sight has grown by 19 percentage points," the new study concluded.
