Olga Sipowicz, the vocalist, songwriter and poet better known as Kora rose to fame as the lead singer of rock group Maanam, which was popular from the early 1980s until it disbanded ten years ago.

She recorded 33 singles and 18 albums with Maanam.

The band's success was largely attributed to Kora's lyrics and charisma.

During her career, she won all of Poland's leading music industry awards.

In 2014 she was awarded Poland's silver Gloria Artis medal for service to the arts.

She is survived by her second husband, Kamil Sipowicz, and two sons. (vb)
