Polish jazz musician Tomasz Stańko has died ages 76 after a long period of illness.

The acclaimed trumpeter and composer who came to prominence in the 1960s was associated with free jazz and the avant-garde.
Drummer and journalist Piotr Iwicki said Stańko was a legend of Polish and world jazz. (vb)
