Twelve bands have been booked for the event, which starts on Thursday in the village of Barcice.

Organisers expect more than 5,000 visitors this year, the sixth time the festival is being held.

The party will be launched with a performance by Swedish group Tibble Transsibiriska. Among other bands taking the stage will be Kroke and the Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra.

The motto of the festival, which runs until Sunday, is "Pannonica - fire, not music!"

The event is one of the most popular ethno-folk and Balkan music festivals in Poland.
