Culture Without Barriers Festival starts in Poland

Film screenings, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and walks for people with disabilities will be held across Poland as the Culture Without Barriers Festival starts on Friday.

Over 250 events in 17 Polish cities are planned during the festival, which aims to give disabled people access to cultural events and venues.

The National Museum in Warsaw, the Silesian Theatre in Katowice, The Bunker of Art gallery in Kraków, as well as the Military Museum in Białystok are among over 80 institutions taking part in the festival.

Meanwhile, public broadcasters Polish Radio and TVP will make their headquarters in Warsaw available to the public during the festival.

Festival coordinator Anna Żórawska said that cinemas, theatres, museums and other venues are set to hold events adapted to people with various types of disabilities.

Żórawska added that people with visual impairments would be provided with tactile feedback aids and audio descriptions. Meanwhile, sign language translations and subtitles will be available for people with hearing problems.

The festival takes place from September 28 to October 7 and on the weekend of October 12-14.
