“If the number of non-vaccinated people … increases, it’s a matter of time before a Polish child dies," said Jan Bondar, a spokesman for the country’s Chief Sanitary Inspectorate.

A total of 123 cases of measles were reported in Poland between January 1 and September 30 this year, state news agency PAP reported, citing the country’s National Public Health Institute.

In the same period last year there were 46 such cases, PAP added.

Bondar said that there were over 41,000 measles cases across Europe in the first half of this year, causing 37 deaths.
