The series follows the first year of World War II through the intertwining fates of ordinary people from Britain, Poland, France, Germany and the United States. The drama focuses on the effect of the war on their everyday lives.

The Polish episode tells the story of Harry, a young English translator in Warsaw who is caught up in negotiations with the Nazis in an effort to smuggle his Polish lover Kasia out of the country.

Tomasz Kot’s latest role in Paweł Pawlikowski’s Cold War has won him rave reviews from international critics.

Zofia Wichłacz, 23, was named a Shooting Star of 2017 by the European Film Promotion. Her credits include Jan Komasa’s Warsaw 44 and Andrzej Wajda’s last feature Afterimage.

The cast of World on Fire has also been joined by Emmy and BAFTA winner Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings) and Academy Award winner Helen Hunt (As Good As It Gets, Mad About You).
