The release features work by the Polish composer, who would have been 85 on Thursday, and it also includes pieces composed by his son Mikołaj, while daughter Anna Górecka performs the piano part in one of the pieces.
Entitled Góreccy, Polish for the Góreckis, the CD contains Two Tristan Postludes and Chorale, one of four compositions that H.M. Górecki left unfinished when he died in 2010. The work has been orchestrated from the short score by his son.

The CD is a live recording of a October 2016 concert in Warsaw during which the work had its world premiere.
Janis Susskind, the then managing director of Boosey & Hawkes, Górecki’s publisher, told Radio Poland at the time: “It’s a profound piece that somehow takes Wagner and quintessential Górecki and puts it together into something completely new.”
Góreccy includes H.M. Górecki’s A Little Requiem for a Certain Polka, a piece with Anna Górecka as the soloist, and Mikołaj Górecki’s Orpheus and Euridice, performed by the Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk.
H.M. Górecki was one of the most original voices in Polish music. He became famous abroad in the early 1990s thanks to the commercial success of his Third Symphony, which sold over a million copies worldwide.
