Its roster of stars includes Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Douglas and Daniel Radcliffe.

Forty-one-year-old Kot skyrocketed to fame for his starring role in Paweł Pawlikowski’s Cold War, which earned him excellent reviews and a nomination for best actor at the European Film Awards.

Cold War is among nine films shortlisted for an Oscar in the best foreign-language film category. It went on release in the United States on Friday.

A 2001 graduate of the Drama Academy in the southern Polish city of Kraków, Kot has appeared in more than 30 films, many theatre productions and television series.

His latest project is the BBC drama series World on Fire, in which he plays Harry, an English translator in German-occupied Warsaw who is caught up in negotiations with the Nazis in an effort to smuggle his Polish lover Kasia out of the country.
