He was selected for the list by the European Film Promotion (EFP) network, which brings together cinema marketing organisations from 35 countries.

A panel of Shooting Stars experts wrote: “An extremely versatile and dedicated actor, Dawid Ogrodnik has won the jury over with his sensitive face that records many a deep emotion in each one of his performances. A fresh talent, who we feel lives and breathes his characters to get into a role, he is a young acting force to be reckoned with. His raw talent is enthralling to watch.”

Ogrodnik is a graduate of the Drama Academy in Kraków, southern Poland.

He has been praised for leading roles in Maciej Pieprzyca's Life Feels Good, Piotr Domalewski’s Silent Night and Jan P. Matuszyński’s The Last Family.

In previous years, five Polish actors made the Shooting Stars list: Agnieszka Grochowska (2007), Agata Buzek (2010), Jakub Gierszał (2012), Mateusz Kościukiewicz (2014) and Zofia Wichłacz (2017).
