Binoche plays Anne, a comfortably off journalist who starts researching the realities of student prostitution.
One of the first girls she meets is Alicja, a Polish student played by noted actress Joanna Kulig, in the movie directed by Malgorzata Szumowska.
Grande dame of the Polish silver screen Krystyna Janda plays Alicja's mother, and award-winning actor Andrzej Chyra also stars.
Director Malgorzata Szumowska told the Polish Press Agency after the screening that she did not want to pass judgment on the prostitutes.
“Anne [Binoche's character] initially comes to her interviewees with a sense that she is a better person,” the director said.
“But these feelings very soon disappear, and she starts to get underneath the skin of the girls.”
Sponsoring, which was shot in French under the title Elles (They), will open in Polish cinemas on 17 February.
Binoche, who worked with acclaimed director Krzysztof Kieslowski on the film Three Colours: Blue, is set to visit Poland for the Warsaw premiere.
Sponsoring has already been sold to distributors in 33 countries, and it is due to be screened at the Berlin Film Festival next month. (nh/pg)
