Around 70 per cent of the costs of the project will be financed from the European Fund for Regional Development.

Preparations are also well under way for renovation schemes covering other structures in the Łazienki Park, such as the Roman-inspired Amphitheatre, the Old Orangery, with its well-preserved 18th-century theatre, and the lanes and greenery adjacent to the Chopin monument.

Designed in the 17th century by Tyman van Gameren in the Baroque style, the Łazienki Park was acquired by the last King of Poland, Stanisław August Poniatowski, in 1764.

It attracts around 1.6 million visitors a year. The Łazienki Park Museum had over 200, 000 visitors last year, 80, 000 more than in 2010. (mk)
