Economic growth sluggish in Q1 2012

The Central Statistical Office (GUS) published Q1 results for Poland’s economic performance and labour market figures, Thursday, showing GDP growth of 3.5 percent year on year.
The Q1 figures are show a slight economic slowdown, as Q4 2011 figures show growth of 4.3 percent year on year.
However, the GUS report shows a drop in unemployment with the rate standing at 12.9 percent at the end of April, while March statistics stood 0.4 percent higher.
Despite registered improvement of the current situation on Poland’s labour market, year on year results are still behind, with March 2011 figures showing 12.8 percent unemployment. (ss/jb)
