The Blue Ray travel agency announced that it filed for bankruptcy late last week, leaving 400 holiday makers stranded in resorts in Egypt.

On 17 July, Africano Travel declared itself bankrupt and earlier in July, Sky Tours left thousands of tourists stranded in several destinations when it filed for insolvency.

Dr. Izabela Lecka, a tourism expert, told Polish Radio that August will see more bankruptcies on the travel agency market.

The OLT Express low cost airline also announced that it had suspended flights both nationally and internationally last week.

She added that after years of expansion the tourism industry is very unstable and the effects of the finance crisis are being felt in the sector. (pg)
