Senior managers of Polish firms are now being paid twice as much as they were in 2001, according to a survey by international consultancy firm Hay Group.

According to Hay Group, figures for 2011 showed that the average annual wage of a senior Polish manager was 136,5000 US dollars, whereas in 2001 it was about 66,000 US dollars.

Poland counts among the top ten countries in the world where management wages have increased by 100 percent.

Hay Group surveyed some 14 million employees from 20,000 firms across the globe.

While Poland's average rate of senior management salaries has increased by 107 percent, this level pales alongside that of China, which experienced the biggest jump. China has witnessed an increase of 247 percent, although the wage of 123,477 US dollars remains behind Poland's.

Another strong performer over the last decade is South Africa, where senior managers are now being paid an average of 151, 273 US dollars per year, marking a 241 percent increase.

In Europe, Turkey saw a 190 percent increase with an average wage of 189,170 dollars for senior managers.

This puts Turkey ahead of Poland in terms of actual wages. In this respect, Poland is still lagging behind Germany and Great Britain. (nh)
