Employers not planning on job creation

Seventy five percent of firms in Poland are not planning taking on new workers, finds a new report by Manpower Group Polska.

As unemployment is protected to reach 14.4 percent in February, amid an economic slowdown in Poland, only 11 percent of firms are planning to take on new workers this year, with another 11 percent planning job cuts.
Iwona Janas, CEO at Manpower, says that the worst prospects for creating new jobs are in the mining and utility sectors.
Restaurants and hotels, construction and manufacturing industries are “moderately pessimistic” about job prospects in those sctors.
The most optimistic employers are in the public sector, transport, retail and wholesale plus financial services, insurance, and real estate.
Companies most willing to take on new workers are in south-western Poland – the richest part of the country according to average wage statistics.
Iwona Janas told Polish Radio that she expects the situation will improve in the labour market in the second half of this year.
