“This award highlights the role that Polish Radio still plays in the Polish media market, how much it still has to offer and what good prospects for development it has,” he said during last night's ceremony.

According to MM Conferences, the independent organiser of business meetings which hosts the awards, Siezieniewski was singled out for such reasons as “the brave decision to launch digital radio, as well as for achieving international recognition (the chairman is the first representative of Polish Radio on the Executive Board of the European Broadcasting Union).”

Siezeniewski noted that while on the one hand, he regards the award as “a personal success,” he stressed that “I also have the feeling that it is for our entire company, and all our employees.”

He became chairman of Polish Radio in 2011, returning to the post which he had held previously from 2002 to 2006.

The Golden and Crystal Antennas of the Media World Awards honour those who have contributed to the development of the telecommunications and media markets in Poland. (nh)
