PM Tusk – Poland can be good partner for Nigeria

Poland's prime minister has began a two-day trip to Nigeria, drumming up business with Africa's largest oil producer.

“Poland would like to cooperate with Nigeria in the area of natural resources, especially gas, coal and oil, as well as in the construction and modernization of Nigerian refineries,” Donald Tusk said on Thursday after talks with Nigerian president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

PM Tusk is leading a Polish delegation which includes representatives from Poland's state oil company PKN Orlen and representatives from the armaments, transport, food and financial sectors.

“We reviewed the state of our bilateral relations and acknowledge that we can do more to deepen and uplift our bilateral relations, considered a number of agreements on trade; investment promotion and protection,” Dr. Goodluck Jonathan added.

On Friday, Poland's head of government will attend a Polish-Nigerian Business Forum.

Nigeria, with a population of 170 million, is Poland's second largest trading partner after South Africa on the continent. (pg)
