Six million are set to travel abroad for their break this summer, while 10 million Poles say they will go on a trip within Poland, according to the poll by AGNielsen Polska.

Croatia is the most popular foreign destination, displacing Spain for the first time.

Spain is now level with Italy as second favourite, followed by Greece in third, Turkey and Great Britain in fourth, Bulgaria in fifth, and then Egypt, France and Germany in joint sixth.

Of those not taking a holiday this summer, 49 percent of respondents cited lack of money as the reason. Some 23 percent of respondents said they had other obligations, and 11 percent said an illness (personal or that of a loved one) was the cause.
