“For us, Poland is the most dynamically developing market in Central-Eastern Europe,” said Carolyn Everson, at the Mediarun Congress of Marketing Directors, which was held in the Baltic city.

"There are 11 million Facebook users in Poland, and three quarters of them are using it every day,” she noted.

“And one in two Poles has access to Facebook on mobile devices. You really have great opportunities,” she reflected.

Everson heads a team responsible for global marketing solutions for key strategic customers and global agencies working with the service. She also supervises media strategy, advertising sales and management of marketing projects implemented on Facebook.

Stressing the value of Facebook as a business tool, she cited the example of two Polish women who hit upon the idea of selling Italian shoes, after a trip to Milan.

“Today, thanks to Facebook, they have 12,000 customers,” she said.

Everson's trip follows a visit to Poland by Facebook founder and chief Mark Zuckerberg last month. (nh)
