A number of facts have arisen since we published our April 1 story on the potential power of the potato for Poland’s energy needs.

While we do think that the massive potential of the potato is far being harnessed, we regret to admit that our article – Poland finds potential in potato power – was in fact nothing more than an April Fool’s day prank.
There is no experimental plant surrounded by… plants. There is no Institute for Tuber Science in Gliwice. But we wish there were.
We hope you found this story as funny as we did writing it, and sorry if you really did think that Poland had enough potatoes to cover its energy needs. Wouldn’t that be great? Apart from the vodka wars, obviously. (jb)
